Witness appeal following serious assault at East Molesey restaurant

We are appealing for witnesses after man was assaulted at a restaurant in East Molesey last Saturday (29 June).

Police were called to the Averna restaurant in Walton Road around 9.30pm following reports that a man had been assaulted after a fight broke out at the premises.

The victim suffered a knife wound to his chest and was punched in the eye during the incident.

A 38-year-old man from East Molesey was arrested on suspicion of attempt assault causing grievous bodily harm and assault causing actual bodily harm, and has been released under investigation.

Enquiries remain ongoing.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Lloyd Ives, said: “This incident occurred in a busy restaurant around 9.30pm and lots of people would have seen what happened. We are appealing to anyone who was either in the restaurant or in the surrounding area who has not already spoken to us to come forward with information.”
